It’s dark out here, like stepping into a tunnel from the harsh midday sun: In front of you is nothing but darkness, behind nothing but the bleaching light. We stand at the cusp of a new age, this connected world struggling to communicate it’s meaning and emotional content to the man on the street, in the cafe, or in the next seat over, kindly provided by your local transit authority as it subsidises a corporate attempt to make you pay to arrive late at your intended destination, using a service that your demanded taxes have sent a percentage of your earnings to pay for.

We have a new look here at Not Really Listening, and new content on the way after an unexpected haitus.

We’ll be having new articles up, including periodical submission from Writer Ecks, who I suspect would be going to hell if he believed in such a thing, whoever he is.

Some of you might have stumbled across this little known British magazine called Edge Magazine¹ which game Resistance 2 a 6/10. According to Ben Dutka at PSXExtreme, that’s not good enough. The former 1UP staff responsible for The 1UP Show have just launched the first project from their new company Area 5.

It’s high quality stuff, and highly indicative of the direction that I hope works out for them and games journalism in general, just as anyone else who was a big fan of the cult UK Channel 4 games review show “Bits” (which was hosted by by Aleks Krotoski, Emily Booth - aka Emily “Bouff” Bouffante, and Emily Newton Dunn) should really pick up on (and ppreciate) the vibe that their previous work on the 1UP show had, which looks to be continuing here. CNET reports that Intel has dropped it’s prices on certain processors by almost 50%. If you’re in the market for an upgrade, this might be a good time to start thinking about getting one, although you’ll have to be careful about making sure those price cuts are actually being passed on to you the consumer if you’re looking for a good deal.
