Nathanael Rouillard
Nathanael Rouillard is a full time artist who rarely gets any time to produce any art outside of his office. He spends most of his free time playing games of one variety or another, and attempting to watch as much high quality film and television as possible. He tries to indulge an interest in amateur photography, but spends more time thinking about what stylistic choices he should make than actually attempting any pretty pictures. Besides which, he will see beauty in things where others see only ugliness. This probably explains his occasionally dark sense of humour.

New Look, New Content, Soft Re-launch
We have a new look here at Not Really Listening, and new content on the way after an unexpected haitus.
We’ll be having new articles up, including periodical submission from Writer Ecks, who I suspect would be going to hell if he believed in such a thing, whoever he is.
Not Really Listening’s rebuttal to PSXE Rebuttal To Edge’s Resistance 2 Review.
Some of you might have stumbled across this little known British magazine called Edge Magazine1 which game Resistance 2 a 6/10. According to Ben Dutka at PSXExtreme, that’s not good enough. In fact, he goes as far as to say that Edge should get over themselves in a shocking failure to see the irony of his own statement. Read the rest of this entry »
The Human Turkish Get Up
Anyone who has done any real work with Kettlebells is probably familiar with an exercise called the Turkish Get Up.
They’ll know that it’s difficult, and that it’s brutal.
Imagine doing it with a human being. Read the rest of this entry »
Area 5 launches new show; CO-OP
The former 1UP staff responsible for The 1UP Show have just launched the first project from their new company Area 5.
It’s high quality stuff, and highly indicative of the direction that I hope works out for them and games journalism in general, just as anyone else who was a big fan of the cult UK Channel 4 games review show “Bits” (which was hosted by by Aleks Krotoski, Emily Booth - aka Emily “Bouff” Bouffante, and Emily Newton Dunn) should really pick up on (and ppreciate) the vibe that their previous work on the 1UP show had, which looks to be continuing here. Our Robot Overlords (I mean protectors) are one step closer
The Guardian has a story about a new prosthetic limb from Touch Bionics called the i-Limb which has been installed on a 19 year old sports biology student.
I say installed, because there is no other way to really describe this. Here we are with a proper bona fide cyborg. Read the rest of this entry »
All Change at the Intel Store (but none yet at Apple)
CNET reports that Intel has dropped it’s prices on certain processors by almost 50%. If you’re in the market for an upgrade, this might be a good time to start thinking about getting one, although you’ll have to be careful about making sure those price cuts are actually being passed on to you the consumer if you’re looking for a good deal. Messing with the Imagery
We rarely think about how much our advertising images are manipulated from reality unless we work in a field that’s all about advertising, or imagery. This is true even though the word “Photoshop” has become a common use verb understood by the average man or woman on the street. Read the rest of this entry »
Helping the Homeless
It’s a difficult time of the year; you’re broke because you’ve overspent, there were one too many drinks, once too often, you treated yourself to that extra little treat here and there, and you went and spent some extra money on getting gifts and treats for friends and family.
This month you started paying your credit card bills. Read the rest of this entry »
The Great Digital Music Robbery
iTunes music is now DRM free and “high” quality.
Of course they’re still double charging all their previous customers who want to actually own the content they’ve already paid for, so let us not all rush to praise Apple for finally getting those deals in place, but still finding a way to squeeze a few extra dollars out of their customers.
