Not Really Listening’s rebuttal to PSXE Rebuttal To Edge’s Resistance 2 Review.
Some of you might have stumbled across this little known British magazine called Edge Magazine1 which game Resistance 2 a 6/10. According to Ben Dutka at PSXExtreme, that’s not good enough. Area 5 launches new show; CO-OP
The former 1UP staff responsible for The 1UP Show have just launched the first project from their new company Area 5.
It’s high quality stuff, and highly indicative of the direction that I hope works out for them and games journalism in general, just as anyone else who was a big fan of the cult UK Channel 4 games review show “Bits” (which was hosted by by Aleks Krotoski, Emily Booth - aka Emily “Bouff” Bouffante, and Emily Newton Dunn) should really pick up on (and ppreciate) the vibe that their previous work on the 1UP show had, which looks to be continuing here. End Of An Era
The news recently broke that the owners of UGO (Hearst) had purchased the online component of Ziff Davis’ gaming publication arm, (namely, the 1up.com family of websites), and that Ziff Davis would cease publishing EGM. As a double whammy, it seems like most of the staff are being laid off by Hearst.
Riveting Reading
I’ve been devouring the Dexter Morgan books recently, at a rate of approximately one book every 36 hours (including eating, sleeping, travelling, and all those other miscellaneous things that aren’t reading). What this means is that I have read all three books; Darkly Dreaming Dexter, Dearly Devoted Dexter, & Dexter in the Dark. As someone who generally doesn’t get the time he would like to read, these have been a godsend; they are such excellent reads that I ended up making time for them.
